The Cripple of Inishmaan

sp11-WEB-Clare-Dunne-150"Funny, tragic, and honest" -- three words confirmed by host Jeffrey Freymann-Weyr and Irish actress Clare Dunne to describe the debut performance of The Cripple of Inishmaan at the Spoleto Festival USA.  The play is set on an island off the coast of Ireland in the 1930s.  It follows the story of "Cripple" Billy as he discovers himself through the process of auditioning for a Hollywood film scheduled to be shot in the area.

As a newcommer to Ireland's Druid Theatre Company, Dunne experiences American culture first hand at SpoletoUSA  and shares her impressions with us.
